DAY 1 MAUN

Welcome to Botswana! As you start your 10-Day Safari in Maun, Botswana, where most epic Botswana safaris start. Enjoy a peaceful night sleep at one of the lodges here and prepare for the adventure ahead. Note: This trip can also start from Kasane to Maun.

DAY 2 MAUN TO MOREMI GAME RESERVE

Pick-up from the lodge around 730am, briefly on your itinerary before you heading out to Moremi Game reserve which is about 3- 4 hours’ drive depending on what to see on your way.</p.

It is the first reserve in Africa that was established by local residents. Concerned about the rapid depletion of wildlife in their ancestral lands – due to uncontrolled hunting and cattle encroachment. It is the only officially protected area of the Okavango Delta, and as such holds tremendous scientific, environmental and conservation importance. And, undoubtedly, Moremi ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa, possibly in the world.

Moremi Game Reserve is situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango, and includes the Moremi Tongue and chief’s island, boasting one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the continent. This makes for spectacular game viewing and bird watching, including all major naturally occurring herbivore and carnivore species in the region, and over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered. Both Black and White Rhino have recently been re-introduced, now making the reserve a ‘Big Five’ destination.

On arrival find your camp already set by our camp staff, siesta, shower, dinner around the fire with your safari team, share your daily experience before your good night sleep.

Day 3 Moremi Game Reserve

Early breakfast followed by a full day drives, our main focus is to see big game. We will have Bush lunch as we continue with our drives till sunset. Return late to the camp, shower and dinner at the camp, share your daily experience before you go under canvas.

Day 4 Moremi to Khwai community Reserve

Wake around 06:00am or 530am depend on the season for a full-breakfast and a game drive along the way, as you depart from Moremi, heading out for Khwai. This will take us only bit hour’s game view on transit.

Khwai is a community run reserve that we think is a really good area with good resident wildlife and beautiful landscape. Being community run Khwai also gives back to the surrounding villages so that wildlife and conservation also becomes an important part for the people living in the area. Khwai also allows off-roading which might be a very good chance for you to see animals very closer.

Short siestas at the camp before proceed on an afternoon game drive. We expect to see giraffes, impalas, wildebeest, zebras, wild dogs, predators, then heading to the camp to have some quality time to shower and then you will have time to relax.

Day 5 Khwai community Reserve

After breakfast you go for mokoro dugout canoe experience for about 2 -3 hours. Flow slowly on top of the waterways, good atmosphere bird watching is excellent, after mokoro we go back to camp for lunch, siesta will follow before you continue with afternoon game drives, till sunset when we enjoy the snack.

Day 6 Khwai to Savuti

Wake up in the morning for a light breakfast and a game drive along the way, as we depart Khwai, the drive takes you from one amazing place to another.

The Savuti area is a prime game viewing destination, which offers great game viewing and a remarkable history. The Savuti Channel has a fascinating history of flooding and drying up independently of good rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere - a mystery that has intrigued geologists and other researchers for many years. The channel dried up in 1885 and started flowing again in 1967 until the end of 1982. Since 1982, the channel has been dry but in late 2009 it started to flow again. It is slowly filling up the marsh and has transformed the area from having 3 small water points artificial pumped to a wetland. This has also changed the cycle of animals that used to migrate out of the area in the dry season, they are now staying. It is very exciting and it will be fascinating to see how the area develops.

Day 7 Savuti

Today we will explore the Savuti Marsh and Channel on the morning and afternoon game drive. There should be good numbers of elephants and other plains game in the area. Savuti used to be famous for its lions, so hopefully we can find a pride of lions today. Back to camp in time for and lunch, siesta, followed by afternoon game drive and enjoy sunset with drinks and snacks, shower before we sit down for dinner and go behind Canvas.

Day 8 Savuti to Chobe

We now travel northwards and install our camp near the Chobe River. This journey will take approximately 5 and half hours.

Chobe is famous for its beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets. The largest elephant population (+-30 000) in Africa lives in the region and we may have the opportunity to watch herds of elephant drinking at the river.

We aim to reach Chobe so that the evening will be at the river bank to see herd by herd come to drink water on the river. This will give you lots of elephants and other animals in a fantastic sunset on the river then go to the camp.

Day 9 Chobe

Morning game drive along the famous chobe river, continue with game drives, your chance to see lot of game by the river bank while still mornings. Brunch at the campsite before your afternoon boat cruise which will be magical.
